I live in the Midwest - in a college town which has a mix of style - casual and professional. I have styled two looks -- one more casual for the younger, college age group, and the other is a professional business-type look.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
I styled this look around my birthday present - this neon yellow mini tote, which I can't wait to use more this summer. Also, I got this bold necklace in my most recent Rocksbox. It is a great statement piece - and is actually very lightweight and comfortable to wear. I would have thought it would be heavy. If you are interested in trying Rocksbox - I am offering one month free + 50% off a second month -- just enter the code: dailystylefindsxoxo. You can read more about it here.
I am in the process of growing out my bangs. Has anyone else struggled with how to style them when they are in the in-between stage?!? They are so heavy on my forehead but too short to tuck behind my ear. A few more months and they should be grown out - I can't wait!
THOUGHT OF THE DAY
"COME TO ME with your plans held in abeyance. Worship Me in spirit and in truth, allowing My Glory to permeate your entire being. Trust Me enough to let Me guide you through this day, accomplishing My purposes in My timing. Subordinate your myriad plans to My Master Plan. I am sovereign over every aspect of your life!"

All these items are from the half-yearly sale at Nordstrom - with up to 40% off and a lot of great deals!
Happy Memorial Day!
Memorial day is more than a day off of work, great shopping deals, and picnics with family, it is a time to remember those that lost their lives serving our country. Thanks to all those that have served.
HISTORY OF MEMORIAL DAY
Originally called Decoration Day, from the early tradition of decorating graves with flowers, wreaths and flags, Memorial Day is a day for remembrance of those who have died in service to our country. It was first widely observed on May 30, 1868 to commemorate the sacrifices of Civil War soldiers, by proclamation of Gen. John A. Logan of the Grand Army of the Republic, an organization of former Union sailors and soldiers.
During that first national celebration, former Union Gen. and sitting Ohio Congressman James Garfield made a speech at Arlington National Cemetery, after which 5,000 participants helped to decorate the graves of the more than 20,000 Union and Confederate soldiers who were buried there.

One of my favorite places to shop is having its half-yearly sale - with up to 40% off! There are some great deals. I have been watching these wedges - and they went on sale, but sold out in my size. I found them even cheaper (with an extra 20% off - Code: FUN20SUN) - so this is one of those times I am glad they were sold out! Also, if you have wanted to get a pair of Hunter boots - they are on sale, which doesn't happen often. Lastly, one of my favorite parts of shopping at Nordstrom is FREE shipping & FREE returns - so there is no risk in trying something!
THOUGHT OF THE DAY
"You and I need to put the Holy Trinity on our case. With Jesus as our Friend, the Holy Spirit as our Advocate, and the heavenly Father as our Judge, we can retire from self-care, knowing that justice will be done — so that we can be anxious for nothing."
- From a bookI read last month (and talked about in this post).
Have a great day & have fun shopping!
Red, white, and leopard is a favorite combination of mine. I have been looking for some red shorts, and I bought these for $15 last week. I will let you know what I think of them. I also found these for only $6. And, here is a dressier version, that you could wear with a skinny belt.
THOUGHT OF THE DAY
"Focus on your specialness and how you’re different from all your competitors. Don’t seek to fit in or cash in on trends or be similar to anything you’ve ever seen before. Be different. Be brave. Follow your truth, and you’ll find the people who want to listen — trust in that."
This is from a book I read last fall about starting your own business. The quote is pretty simple - but I think it is something a lot of small business owners, and especially bloggers struggle with - how to stand-out with so many others, especially when comparing and worrying that you might not be as good as others. I know I struggle with feeling defeated when I see the success of others - and wonder what I am doing wrong - or could do differently.
I love the Rockstud tote. I like it so much, I was considering trying to figure out how to make one. Then, I found this one, and it looks a lot like it and is only $40! And, it comes in beige.
THOUGHT OF THE DAY
"Criticism is futile because it puts a person on the defensive and usually makes him strive to justify himself. Criticism is dangerous, because it wounds a person’s precious pride, hurts his sense of importance, and arouses resentment."
- From the new book I am reading.
"Never let go of your appetite to go after new ideas, new experiences, and new adventures. Compete with yourself, not with others. Judge yourself on what is your personal best and you’ll accomplish more than you could ever have imagined. Life stops for no one, so keep moving. Stay awake and stay alive." - #GIRLBOSS
Summer is coming and here are just a few looks that I have put together using some great budget-friendly finds. Have you shopped at Joe Fresh or heard of the brand? Up until the other day, I typically associated it with being in JCPenney stores, but there is a standalone Joe Fresh store. I checked out the Joe Fresh online store - and I was amazed at how many cute things they offer at a really reasonable price (around the $20 price point), like this striped summer dress for under $20 or striped flip flops - only $4. Right now, they have a promotion that if you spend $125, you get a $50 voucher towards your next purchase.
MY SHOPPING BAG
I have been looking for a tan/brown summer sandals. Recently, I bought this pair of wedge sandals and this one - both on sale. I was so excited to get them - I thought for sure one of them would work out. I knew as soon as I put them on I would get blisters and not be comfortable. So, unfortunately, they are going back even though they are really cute. (They may work for some.) I have debated getting this pair because I thought the elastic might be more comfortable, but I am waiting for them to go on sale - at least 50% off - and more like 75% off.
I have been watching these sandals (in the yellow/green neon color) - and wouldn’t you know they went on price-matching sale Monday at Nordstrom and sold out (except they seem to hav a pair left in coral)! If you are looking for flat gladiator sandals, you might want to check them out.
THOUGHT OF THE DAY
"If you believe something, other people will believe it, too. You can’t convince someone else— whether it’s a potential employer, a loan officer at the car dealership, or someone you’ve been crushing on— that you’re amazing and terrific if you don’t actually think you are."
This quote is from the book I am reading - #GIRLBOSS - I had watched an interview about Sophia Amoruso a few years ago, and was interested to read about her story of how she started her business, Nasty Gal (vintage-inspired women's clothing shop - named after the 1975 Betty Davis album - in case you are unfamiliar or wondering). If you ever wanted to know the history behind Zappos, I also enjoyed reading Delivering Happiness - which talks about the culture behind the business.
Mother's are a wonderful gift - and this is a great day to be celebrate all they do for us!
As happy as the day is for so many people, for others it can be a day of sadness - for those that have lost their mother, may have lost a child, or unable to have a child - this day can be a painful reminder of what is missing. For all those, I lift you up in prayer - and remember you! A sweet blogger I follow lost her mother unexpectedly a few years ago, and she is a great witness to others with her deep understanding and caring. "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18
"Mothers hold their children's hands for a short while, but their
hearts forever."
Lastly, yesterday, I mentioned that I was going to get this bag for my birthday, well, my husband was trying to figure out what to get me, and my mom told him about this gift idea - and guess what - he surprised me with it. My mom and husband make a pretty good team - I loved my gift!
There are so many great styles of sandals this summer. Here are just a few popular styles - gladiator, espadrille, and wedge - with both save and splurge options; however, a few of the splurge are on sale - and close in price to the save ones. And, a few of the save sandals are buy one, get another for $12.50 - so if you buy two pairs, you could get another one, like the tall gladiators for only $12.50 - what a steal!
Also, talking about sales/deals, Nordstrom is offering triple points (until May 10th) - so for every dollar you spend - you get 3 points towards your Nordstrom notes. If you do not have a Nordstrom card, I highly recommend it - it gives you money back to buy more and also early access to my favorite sale of the season - the Nordstrom Anniversay sale.
This is our last week of showing off our Style Challenge looks. Our 21 looks featured camo jeans and a floral skirt. As we move beyond our challenge, I thought I would feature ways to wear both these items from one of my favorite bloggers, Rach from Pink Peonies. She comes up with some creative looks - like pairing pink with camo - which looks great! Or the red hunter boots. Her looks show how you can both dress up/down camo jeans from a denim jacket to studded Valentino's (more reasonable priced ones here). Also, I like all her different ways of wearing floral, like adding a denim shirt over a dress or a gold belt.
THANKFUL
As our round-up ends, I would like to highlight that what has been more important than the outfits has been the friendships and support group that has formed because of the style challenge. When Alison of Get Your Pretty On asked what the biggest impact of the style challenge has been - I said the connection with other women. These are ladies I probably would have never met (seeing that we are from different parts of the US and Canada), if it had not been that we were part of the challenge and all bloggers. Over the past months, I have gotten to know them and found out what a wonderful group of ladies they are. They are so supportive and quick to offer a “hug” and words of encouragement, as each of us has been faced with our own trials. I am so happy and thankful to have met them!
SPRING STYLE ME CHALLENGE So, be sure to check out their looks for the last days of the challenge. I can’t make any promises, but I plan to get out and take some pictures in the next couple of weeks, and will post them then...
I was not planning on posting today - but then I remembered Forever 21 is offering free shipping (with no minimum) and today is the last day. They have so many cute things for spring/summer - all priced under $30 (and a lot under $20), that I wanted to share, so here is my post.
I love these joggers - they also come in black. Joggers are comfortable way to dress up a look. Wondering how to style them - here is some help.
Thanks for stopping by!
