I'm back with week six of Style Perspectives with The Blended Blog. This week our host is Lana - and our theme is how to style a spring sweater, jeans, and flats.
If you can believe it I do not own any flats. I own flip flops, sneakers, and my favorite Sam Edelman Gigi sandals, but I do not own any closed toe pointy flats, loafers, lace up shoes - or anything that might qualify as "flats". I think the last time I owned flats - I was in college. And, I will not mention how many years ago that was - but I do have a milestone coming up this May - anyone guess how many years?
In thinking about college - I was one of those students who changed their major several times. I could not figure out what I wanted to do. (And, actually I am still trying to figure it out.) I started college as a biology major, then switched to psychology, then education (specialty in high school biology and math), and then decided to go back to just general biology. I chose a diverse biology curriculum from pre-med microbiology and biochemistry to environmental science and ecology. For one of my environmental classes, I spent a week hiking in the Smoky Mountains and camping outside in an open air pavilion on top of a mountain. My pre-med microbiology and biochemistry classes were not as "fun" - but rather intense. For the tests, our instructor would give us a list of 30 essays to prepare. And, on the day of the test, he would pick just 5 of them for us to answer. We would get an empty blue book (if those still exist) and 50 minutes to write our 5 essay answers. The nights before those exams were the only times in college I had an "all-nighter". I would spend the entire night researching the answers. (Partly because I never paid attention in class or to the reading.) After the exams, I would reward myself by going shopping, which was actually more browsing - because I was in college. I am happy to say though with all of my changes in my major, I did however manage to graduate in four years!
So, that is a little more about me... now back to my spring sweater - and how I wore the cardigan above last fall. And, this cardigan is very similar to the one I wore on Monday - it is just a little brighter and shorter.

Another yellow cardi! I love it. I can't believe you don't own flats ! Lol those shoes are killer tho. You look younger than me so I'll say college was 5 max 10 years ago. ( it's been 15 for me )
ReplyDeleteThank, Nicole. You made my day.
DeleteI am loving the colour themes you have going each week and also loved learning a little more about you! Great outfit!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Deena. (The idea came from trying to make my Instagram feed look more cohesive - but I am enjoying it - and it is being a bit challenging to stay on track!)
DeleteThat's funny that you don't own any flats. That's about all I own... :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the bright yellow cardigan! Fabulous outfit!
I know - when I need to walk somewhere - I think "why do I not own flats!"
DeleteThe yellow sweater is such a great piece for spring, and I love it with the black booties!

Love you in yellow Lisa!! Such class and a lil sass!!! I had to smile, i started out in Psych at IU then switch to secondary Ed and taught psych, soc and govt, now I work in health care in education and communications. Nothing wrong with changing our minds!! You look GREAT!!
ReplyDeleteI feel better knowing I am not alone. And, so true - we can change our minds as we like.

DeleteLove that sweater! The whole look is great! I am not a flats person either. Those boots are great!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Heels make me feel more confident!
DeleteLoving all these sweaters you have been featuring! They look fantastic on you! And so nice to get to know a little more about you! Impressive that you graduated in 4 years having changed majors so many times. :) And oh those blue books...does everyone just get a laptop now? haha.
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous in yellow! Definitely a great spring sweater! Love the leopard pumps as well. If I was more comfortable in heels I'd have a closet full, but I prefer flats.

I love this yellow sweater! So bright & springy. I changed majors a bunch of times in college too - I started in communications, went to architecture, and finally decided on fashion/retail management. I have no idea how I graduated in 4 years!
ReplyDeleteYellow and Leopard for the win! I can't believe you don't have any flats outside flip flops. Time to get shopping girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteLove the yellow cardigan and your booties add a glam flare to the outfit! =)

Clearly I need more yellow in my life!! Love this look!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty yellow sweater, and I love how you added some edge with black. I was also someone who changed her major SO MANY TIMES in college, and I still have yet to figure out what I want to do with my life. Glad I'm not alone, ha!

I think I need more yellow in my closet! And I love those gorgeous shoes on you!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I can't decide which shoes I want more!!! Also, I loved your college story!
ReplyDeleteGlad to read I am not the only college student who dabbled in a few majors before graduating (pretty much for me) on time. I remember blue books...oops, should I admit that publicly. Love your buttercup yellow sweater. I wear a whole lot of heels, too, but have some flats. Always so put-together and perfect, Lisa.
ReplyDeleteBlue books were still around when I was in college too! I hear you on flats though, I have a few pairs of Sperrys, but that is about it. It is hard to find a pair that fits my weird feet!
ReplyDeleteI love the contrast of yellow and black. Thanks for adding your fashion flair to the My Refined Style Linkup.
