One thing you might not know about me is that when I was younger I was a competitive ice skater. I was on a synchronized ice skating team that traveled the US and Canada. I started traveling to competitions at age 10 - and was one of the youngest of the group of a lot of high school girls, and even college. (These girls had a big influence on music taste - from Beastie Boys, Prince, to Bon Jovi. There was always music playing in the back of the bus!) It was an amazing experience - one I am so thankful that my parents allowed me to do.
When I decided to style a graphic tee paired with a blazer (because it is a trend that still seems to be going strong), I picked the John Lennon tee because it reminded me of ice skating. Along with skating competitively, I also skated for several years in a "Disney on Ice" type production. It was huge theatrical production with full-out chorus-line costumes, and featured skaters like Scott Hamilton (back in the day when he won the Olympics). The association with John Lennon is because one of the performers skated to his song Imagine - and I will probably forever associate that song with the show.
For me, I love wearing a classic blazer with a tee and jeans, I just have not tried swapping out my basic tee with a graphic one - but it would be really simple. If you are like me, and might not wear the “rocker” boots with the look - you could easily wear pumps (which I typically do), flats or even sneakers.
