The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is over, and I can't wait to see more new fall arrivals - I've shared just a few at the end of the post. But for today I am going to take a bit of a break from fashion and share a little bit more about me. Today, I am joining my fellow friends at The Blended Blog to answer a few summer questions...
All three. I grew up going to a cottage at a lake each summer. To this day, it is one of my favorite memories. It always rained at the lake but somehow we always had the best time. I also love to sit by a pool in the summer and sit at the ocean and listen to the waves come rolling in.
2. Camping, cottage, or hotel?
As I get older, I would probably say hotel - but I have fond memories of all three.
I have only camped a couple of times in my life - both at no facility camp grounds (meaning no bathrooms or showers). Once on a spring break trip at a camp ground near South Padre Island, Texas. (We couldn't get into our condo until the next day - so we camped the first night.) The camp ground was actually on a sandy beach (on the ocean) - and we ended up getting our car stuck. And, how we got it out - is a story for another day. The other time camping was in the mountains of North Carolina - in a look-out pavilion. We hiked up in the evening - so in the morning we could see the sunrise over the mountains.
3. Favorite Ice Cream Flavor
In ice cream, I like to have what I call "chunkies" - like chocolate chunks (in mint chocolate chip ice cream). I actually do not like smooth ice cream - like soft serve - on its own. Also, I am not really a plain vanilla or chocolate person - other than maybe an occasional vanilla milkshake (see #10 for more on that). My favorite ice cream flavors would probably be - Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Cookie Dough. I also like a Dairy Queen Peanut Butter Blizzard (and in this case soft serve is okay). I could probably live on those three - and skip everything else.
4. Sandals with heels or flat
It depends. If I am going out - I like to wear sandals with heels, but if I am going to be walking a lot I like to wear my comfortable flats. My go to flat sandals are these flip flops (I love them!) and these flat sandals (they are so comfy).
5. Water, Tea of Soda
I like to drink water each day - but my go to drink would be soda (or as I like to say "pop")
6. Hot Dog or Hamburger
I love both - grilled-out at a cookout. But as far as grilling - I probably prefer a slightly charred hot dog with a little mustard, over a hamburger (well, really cheeseburger). As far as cheeseburgers - my favorite is Five Guys.
7. Dine In our Out
If a place has a nice patio - and it is nice weather - I love to sit outside in the summer.
8. Garden or No Garden
I love a garden in the summer. The tomatoes you can grown in a garden are far better than the "gassed" one you get at the grocery store (even if they say vine-ripe!).
I also love to grow herbs - like basil (for pesto - recipe here). And, I love different herbs for salads (more recipes here.)
9. Fave Summer Destination
One of my favorite beaches (and vacation destinations) in the US - is Hilton Head. I love the flat beaches that are so easy to walk for miles.
10. Big Theme Park or Local Fair
Growing up we lived near a big theme park - and it was a lot of fun to go and ride the massive coasters. But, as I get older, I kind of enjoy our local county fair. My husband and I just went this past weekend - and got fair fries, coney dogs, and a milkshake - and I had a great time.

I liked how you covered both the then and now. I think many people can relate to growing out of things year still have a soft spot for the others in their hearts. Also I am with you on the ice cream bit, soft serve and plain flavors just do.t make the calories worth it for me. Go big or go home.
